Pediatric Medical Treatment

This campaign is to raise the funds needed for my son to receive the *urgent medical treatment* and therapy he requires for his emotional and educational health/progress. Though we live in Canada, not all medical services are covered by our universal healthcare insurance. Specialized diagnostic tests, assessments and therapy are private and must be paid for by the client/parents. My son is 8yo, smart, caring, kind and generous--he is often the kid to stop the bully on the playground from hurting his friends; or carrying his classmates bag after they return from surgery.

My son requires the medical tests and treatment to first ascertain or rule out any mental illnesses that are DSM V recognized, including: mood disorders, anxiety disorder, mood dysregulation and self regulation. In addition to confirming or ruling out ADHD--given his consistent above average academic performance, he may be on the high end of the spectrum; or it could be ruled out entirely and a more subtle cause for his challenges with focusing, staying on task determined. The psychometric, and fine motor skill testing will help shed light on his challenges with writing and doing any work that requires handling of instruments to complete the task.

Given his age his prognosis is good; with the right diagnosis and therapy my son stands an excellent chance of having a normal social and academic life.Conversely, if ignored his behaviour will escalate and he is likely to face many social (anger, fights, inability to self-regulate) and academic (boredom, frustration with work, incomplete work) challenges. With the availability of these educational assessments any special devices or modifications will be identified so I will be able to help him and ensure he is getting the assistance he requires at school and home.
