In September 2016, we lost our friend and brother, Keith Robinson. Keith was the founder of Desert Storm sound system. At the time of his death, Keith was in the process of having his life turned into a book. It’s taken three years to resurrect this project. We are raising funds in two parts. This initial target will fund the rewriting and editing of the manuscript. The 2nd part will cover printing costs. We are in an era of austerity, so please, donate only what you can afford.
In September, 2016, we tragically lost our friend and brother, Keith Robinson, known affectionately to most of us as ‘Keef’.
Keith was the founder and driving force behind Desert Storm from its early days putting on the first free parties in Glasgow and the West of Scotland through to his place at the forefront of the fight against 1994’s Criminal Justice Act and the Reclaim the Streets Campaign, and on to his amazing journey to Bosnia in 1995.
Over the two and a half decades of his involvement in the free party and techno scenes, Keef inspired and influenced so many of us across Europe. His organisational skills were almost as legendary as his capacity for decadent levels of partying, but he was also very much an innovator and someone determined to bring a sense of social conscience to what was often a purely hedonistic scene.
At the time of his death, Keith was in the process of having his life and experiences turned into a book from his often manic notes. It’s taken nearly three years to gather these notes together and to get the blessing of his family to resurrect this project and we are now ready to take it to the next stage.
We aim to publish the book before Xmas.
We appreciate we are in an era of austerity and authoritarianism, so please, donate only what you can afford.
“You might stop the party, but you can’t stop the future!”
What We Need & What You Get
Keith's manuscript is pretty disjointed in places, and some of the timeline is out of sync. We also want to add to his story and also feature anecdotes and memories from the many people whose lives Keith influenced.
We have his original writing partner, Iain Donnelly, who had known Keef since 1991, back on board and already working on the manuscript. But it is going to take a lot of work, and this initial part of the fundraising will cover Iain's costs as he works on the book over the next 5-6 months. It also covers the fees and transfer charges for Indiegogo
Keith was always at the forefront of the free party scene and has been a huge influence on many people. We believe his story needs to be recorded for posterity, to remember the many moments of joy and happiness he brought to friends and acquaintances, and to stand as an inspiration to a new generation.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know times are hard. If you can only donate a small amount, even that helps. If you can't afford to donate, please share the campaign on as the wider audience it has, the quicker we reach our target.
