My name is Keagan, and I have been given the awesome opportunity to represent South Africa at the 2018 Judo Commonwealth competition. This is where you come in, I need your help to get there, because unfortunately no funding or sponsorship is provided and each player is required to pay their own way.
I am 12 years old and have been doing Judo since I was 5, I am currently a blue belt and have been fighting at a provincial level since I was 7.I broke my arm in 2016 and was unable to compete but bounced back stronger for it. I have represented my region at the South African Open Judo Championships for the last 2 years, taking gold in 2017 and bronze in 2018. I have also participated in National ranking competitions in 2017, 2 gold medals and 2018 1 silver, 11 gold. Most recently I represented Gauteng province at a Group 3 (13&14yrs) tour in Mozambique, we were able to participate in training with Mozambique clubs and finshed the tour with a tournament in which I took gold.
I come from a family of judoka, with both my brothers Raydon, 1st dan blackbelt and coach and Garren Junior blackbelt and Provincial technical official, they have been a great example to me, together they have participated in Judo Kata at the South African Open Championships for the last 10 years and have medalled every year. I am the first to be invited to represent South Africa at an international level.
Judo is my passion! Please help me make this dream come true, an amount no matter how small will take me one step closer. Moneys raised will go towards my travel and meal expenses, competition entry fees and team sports kit.
Any additional funds raised I would like to share with my teammates who will also be going
I hope you enjoy watching a video I’ve posted of some of my recent competitions and thank you for your generosity and support.
