KayDance Johnson was born April 21st 2006. An absolute joy, and full of grace she was always a pleasure to be in the company of. At a year old, we began to notice subtle changes in her energy levels, daily activities, and a growth over her eye. After numerous hospital visits and misdiagnoses, at 16 months, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. For two years she valiantly fought. Undergoing several experimental treatments and even being the FIRST human being to undergo a treatment offered only at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Sadly after two relentless years of fighting and suffering, in the early morning hours, before the sun had risen, on July 9th 2009, KayDance took what would be her last breath in the arms of her God Father. Grief stricken and emotionally in disarray, my families overwhelming desire to preserve KayDances memory, legacy, and joy, have embarked on a quest to become a driving force in making a difference in the lives of others through our loss. Therefore after much thought, prayer, and deep consideration in analyzing a method to become lifechanging pioneers, we have decided that establishing a safe haven for youth that are of an "at-risk" demographic, foster children/youth, and children deemed wards of our courts legal system need refuge. Through the establishment of residential care facilities of both a long and short-term nature, we will be able to provide rehabilitative services including but not limitied to the implementation of mental health services, social establishment skills, self reliance efforts, financial budgeting programs, and educational services to expose them to conducive environments that will nurture their steps to independence and success.
