Katie’s Trip to the Philippines

I just wanted to take a moment and let you know about an opportunity that I have this coming summer. In July of 2016, I will be taking a missions trip to the Philippines. This should be an exciting time filled with chances to minister to the people there, see their culture, and grow in Christ.

The trip will be led by Adventure in Mission, and we will be working closely with a missionary there, Jeff Long, and his ministry at a local orphanage. I will have the opportunity to work at the same orphanage that I did in June of 2015.

Ministry opportunities will include working with their children’s home and toddler room. Ministry there will involve playing with the kids, playing sports, taking care of the toddlers including feeding, playing with and helping to love on them and develop their relational skills. I will also get to work with the schools that KIM has built to educate the community they work in. While working with the school, I may do some sports camps. Most of all, I am looking for God to work in the lives of the group and myself whom have committed to go as we open up our hearts to missions. There is no better way to gain a burden for missions than by a short-term mission trip.

I went last summer for the first time and it changed my life. I was able to step out of my comfort zone and be submersed in missions, which is what I’m studying in college at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.
