Katherine’s Breast cancer fund

March 25, 2018. Katherine was very hesitant in regards to this funding page so we have kept it dormant for a week now. She is the type of person that always extends her efforts to others yet is hard for her to receive any assistance. She has finally given us a green light to move forward with this campaign. Our aim is not too big but just a chance to showcase our solidarity towards her.

Two weeks ago, Katherine, who is one of my best friends in this world, called me and told me something I never thought I would hear. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer at only 34 years old. Katherine was diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer on March 4, 2018, noticing an inflamed area of her breast just a couple of weeks prior. She is one of the most humble, caring, selfless and genuine people I know, and always puts others first.

I immediately wanted to create a campaign to assist her but she refused. I knew she would be facing serious medical bills and a lot of missed work. Too proud to ask for help on her own and out of other options, I'm here to tell Katherine's story and humbly ask for assistance for her on this long journey she has ahead.

Katherine is a self-employed freelance makeup artist and a single mother of two. She grew up in the foster care system. Jumping from one family to another. So the thought of not being there for her children, pains her deeply. Katherine's family is her small group of friends. Therefore, we aim to extend her family through our own network.

As she is self-employed means no disability leave and no private insurance through an employer. Due to the high deductibles with her government insurance, she has to pay over $4,000 before she can even begin her chemotherapy treatment. I refuse to let this go too long before she can get well!

A few days ago we were delivered the sad news that Katherine had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. To hear those words come from my friend's lips was mind-numbing.

A week later after many tests her specialist delivered more horrible news, that it's worse off then they first thought and the cancer cells had not only been found in the milk ducts but has also invaded healthy breast tissue and the lymph, she is now undergoing a mastectomy next week and further diagnosis is yet to be discovered after surgery.

Our goal is to at least raise $2,000 to help contribute towards her costs. We aim to raise funds to cover: Insurance deductible to begin chemo, lost wages and for her treatment.

I am asking for your help, If you can please put forward anything at all, to help my young friend and her family get through this difficult time.

Even the smallest bit put forward will help - Every little bit counts and I hope you can help me, help her fight this.

Your positive words and prayers and donations will help give her hope and make her feel strong and smile again.

Living in another state away from her makes it so much harder and I feel so powerless.

This is the only way I feel I can directly help, so it will mean the world to me if we can help make this ordeal a little bit easier for her.
