Welcome to the Kasintuwu English Project fundraiser page. Help us reach our target so we can finish building our English language school. This money will allow us to build a second hut at the school, where we will house our foreign visiting volunteers, teach the children, have an English book library and run our English summer camp.
We are 5 Indonesians, in our twenties, and we created a project in our village of Kasintuwu, on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, to teach English for free to children and local people. In this area of Indonesia the government doesn’t give English lessons, so we started this project in our free time, as we were very concerned about the future of our village people. Today we teach 5 classes of elementary school kids, between 7 and 11 years of age, in total around 50 children.
With the school buildings complete, we can fully support our local children and teach them English through the whole year, including the long rainy season here. We will also be able to house visiting volunteers here. This is important, so both staff and children, can learn English from native speakers and learn about other cultures.Speaking English is very important for the future of these children, as it gives the best chance of jobs, to earn money and support their families.
The school has a natural garden too, so we teach the children about nature and organic and sustainable farming (we grow banana, coconut, cacao, corn, papaja, durian many more).
You can read more about our project and see more photos, on our workaway page. The workaway site is how we find our volunteers, and our page has some stories from volunteers who have stayed with us.
We hope you can help us and thank you very much in advance.Or as we say in Indonesian:
