Campaign Story
I am raising funds for Karin to purchase a dialysis machine and for her to get the tests needed for a possible kidney transplant. Karin has kidney failure for the last 7 years and is on dialysis for the last 7 years. The kidney failure is causing a range of other problems. The goiter gland is also dysfunctional and must be removed as it causes the veins to become bone. She is in constant pain and permanently ill. We would like her to get her treatment at home where she can be comfortable and with her family without the need to travel constantly. Any assistance in this regard will be appreciated. If someone has a dialysis machine they are not using and may want to donate in stead of money if will be welcomed and appreciated. We will also need a temperature scanner and the medical equipment needed for dialysis.
We have discussed the matter with the specialist and the medical aid and there is a possibility the cost of the machine and the normal dialysis equipment will be covered by the medical aid. We are waiting for their decision on this. Should the medical aid cover this, it will bring down the cost and we will only need funding for renovations to the room according to their specifications, water filter system according to their specifications, plumbing items, tiling, ceiling installation etc.
The monthly cost will be for a medical care giver, maintenance of the aircon and filter systems and general hygiene chemicals and the cost of monthly water testing. This is estimated at about R30 000 / month.
Thank you in advance
