Karen’s Treatment

We hope this message finds you in good health during these turbulent times.

As you may already know about our dear Karen, she has been diagnosed with cancer.

We would like to thank you for all of your kind and loving thoughts and messages for Karen. Our strong, beautiful, and genuine friend who never skipped her yearly check-up was blindsided by her diagnosis recently, and has now begun a long journey of radiation & chemotherapy against Stage II Cervical Cancer.

Many have asked how to support Karen in this difficult situation.

We have launched a Fundraiser that will directly contribute to Karen’s exorbitant medical costs so we can provide her with peace of mind, and allow Karen to focus her strength on her treatment.

2021/9 update

As most of you may have heard, our dear Karen was rushed to the ICU twice last month. After her first round of chemoradiation last year, she had another round of chemotherapy early this year due to intense bleeding and the tumors grow back. She’s been going back and forth to the hospital hoping for an answer for spontaneous intense bleeding and later on followed by abdominal discomfort and pain. Because of that she also underwent a procedure called 'Hyperbaric Therapy' as advised by her doctor to lessen the pain. However, after a couple of sessions it didn't change anything and rather cause her an immediate rush to the ER.

When Karen was rushed to the ER last month, she was in intense pain and bleeding. The doctors did UAE (Uterine Artery Embolization) procedure to stop the bleeding and later on showed that Karen had a hole in her intestine, so she was rushed to the ER again, and woke up with colostomy performed. Days after that, she had another intense bleeding that almost took her life. As a response, the doctors performed another UAE procedure. This procedure saved Karen. However, she was told that if she bleeds again, the doctors cannot do anything anymore… Fortunately, there hasn’t been another bleeding occurrence to this day.

Because chemotherapy also kills healthy cells, Karen’s recovery from the surgery is very slow and she is also fighting an infection from the surgery until today. They cannot do any further treatment for the cancer until she’s fully recovered from this surgery.
