"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." – Coretta Scott King

Never before have we, as a global community, been faced with a threat that has put everything on a standstill. Schools cancelled. Malls closed. Roads free of traffic in eerily silence. Yet even as we do our best to make do through the quarantine, we know that so many have much less and will perhaps need much help to simply get by and survive.

Our neighbor barangay, Barangay Tandang Sora, was placed under “extreme enhanced quarantine” after registering higher cases of COVID-19 patients. Barangay Tandang Sora is home to a number of families that struggle to meet their basic needs. If we expect them to “stay home” and “practice social distancing”, then we must help them have enough food and resources to get through it.

In this spirit of bayanihan -- and indeed in the spirit of Tandang Sora herself who cared for those in need of healing during the days of Katipunan -- we ask for your help in taking care of our kapit-bahays. Our goal is to help 500 households through the quarantine period. The most vulnerable households are chosen based on income loss and presence of elderly, persons with disabilities, lactating or pregnant mothers and children under 5 years old.

Our community health lies in EVERYONE’S continued health during quarantine.

The local church group, Basic Ecclesiastical Community (BEC) of the Santuario de San Vicente de Paul is distributing household care packages in this barangay.

A minimum of P500 will support one household to meet their daily food needs or essential hygiene items.

  • Thank you for your efforts to help the barangay. But I hope you are also knocking on the door of Mayor Joy Belmonte. I'm sure this is not the only barangay who needs help. God speed!
