Kanggui Hope

Kanggui Hope is an educational project for underpriviledge children from Kangpokpi (Kanggui) which is a small town within the Sadar Hills sub-division of Manipur, in Northeast India. Today Manipur faces a lot of uncertainties with families having to deal with many socio-economic issues. With rampant unemployment and only meagre manual labour wages available, parents are struggling to provide for their children. Under such troubled circumstances, providing basic education for the children is not even within the realms of possibility for many parents. The children as a result, play in their homes or roam the streets to keep themselves amused - consigned to a future no better than their present. And this viscous cycle continues Education can free them from this bondage by providing them with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in their lives. Education can be the key to filling their young hearts with ambitions that set them free from the chains of poverty. These children need help and 'Kanggui Hope' was formed with the sole purpose of helping them. Kanggui Hope, began when Lien Gangte, the founder, started personally funding education for a few children on a personal basis. However, it was evident right-away that was not enough and he started this charity. Today with the help of friends and family Kanggui Hope is supporting a handful of children, but we want to reach out beyond friends to strangers and good Samaritans as much more can be done and needs to be done.
