Please help us get justice for this U.S. Air Force Veteran/Beloved Family Man: K. Arthur Miles, who now sits in a Federal Prison accused of a crime he had no part of.... 

Being that this is a public forum, and the case is still pending, I am not at liberty to publicly speak of the specific charges. What I can disclose, however is that they are of a non-violent/victimless nature. A cyber crime- that up until a few years ago did not even exist. 

Before I continue telling his story- I must preface it with a warning to all: If you have a computer with internet access, you are not immune from being compromised by hackers. Most especially if you are using any peer to peer file sharing programs such as Limewire or Frostwire. My best advice would be to Uninstall those types of programs: Then reformat your entire system. 

Peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing is a popular way for Internet users to exchange music, movies, photos or documents. If you are sharing materials online using P2P applications you may be putting yourself at risk for computer viruses, stolen personal data or broken copyright laws.

If you are someone who keeps their computer running (even while unattended)- some programs can continue running in the background. Malicious individuals can gain access to your system remotely, (unbeknownst to you) and do virtually ANYTHING to and on your computer. Do not make the mistake of underestimating the dangers. 

Take precaution. Its okay to be paranoid. There are branches of Law Enforcement assigned to the task of monitoring the activity of IP addresses and WIFI activity 24/7. Their job is to fish for illegal files or activity. Even if by accident, whether by hackers, spyware or malware, if it leads to your IP, be prepared to have your home raided with fully armed law enforcement...... Thanks to the Patriot Act- they have the authority to enter & invade every square inch of your home, handcuff you and your loved ones, and interrogate, lie to and coerce you for hours until you tell them what they want to hear..... And if you refuse to let them in, they will ram your front door down to get in.
This is exactly what happened to this man and his family. And it was the day after last Thanksgiving.


Being that Mr Miles was employed for years by the largest remote technical support company in North America at the time (and worked out of his home office), he and his family felt that surely it was some sort of Virus, that the authorities would soon discover and the whole thing would be cleared up quickly and life would return to normal...

Tragically- That was NOT the case: 
He found out the hard way, that the prosecution's computer forensics methods are very outdated and inadequate. Literally what they do is take a snap shot of your computer's harddrive and use a simple cataloging program that is geared only to show that the files have been placed there- not how- or by whom, which then by design cannot possibly show innocence nor even reasonable doubt. 

In layman's terms Computer Forensics used by law enforcement is faulty, unreliable junk science. 

Therefore- If It was on your computer- Therefore you are guilty. Period. 


Being that the internet is widespread- It falls under a Federal Crime- Which is absolutely devastating in terms of the severity of mandatory sentencing guidelines...


Not able to afford the large fees of a private attorney, Mr. Miles was appointed a Public defender who has access to no better computer forensic resources than the prosecution. Add to that an overwhelming caseload & absolutely no interest in refuting the trumped up/bogus allegations that "magically" began to accumulate out of thin air, once he indicated he wanted to exercise his constitutional right to take his case to trial.


You see, the Government discourages costly Trial proceedings- So it leans heavily on the attorneys to wrap the case up in a neat little package,-by threatening to tack on more and more charges, (if the defendant doesn't accept a plea agreement) until the defendant worries about being in prison for the rest of his life.


In Mr Miles' case. his public defender has ignored every single item of evidence that could exonerate him, and instead coerced him into accepting a plea deal that will (at best) have him spending the next 5-10 years of his life in prison.


I've known Mr. Miles personally for nearly two decades and I know that this man is absolutely without a doubt INNOCENT. He is the kindest, gentlest, most honorable man and best friend anyone could ever hope to have. He's a hard working, devoted family man with 2 children who idolize him and a wife who adores him. He would give anyone his very last dime and the shirt off his back- no questions asked.


He served in the US Air force for a 7 year term, and it breaks all the hearts of those of us who love him to know that the Country he loved enough to put his life on the line for- has literally betrayed, failed & caged him like an animal - for a crime he did not commit.


The one glimmer of hope in this case is that he has recently found an Attorney who can exonerate him. This attorney has extensive experience and success in these types of cases, and has even litigated against the very prosecutor and Judge(s) who Mr Miles is now up against. We know that without a doubt this attorney is his only hope for freedom and Justice. The only thing standing in his way is the $20,000 retainer fee. 


So, please, give whatever you can afford. Even if only a few dollars, every little bit helps. 


Even if you do not know Mr. Miles personally like I do, Donate towards the *cause* for Justice and sorely needed Reform of a system that is so flawed, that virtually anyone can be targeted & become the next victim of this nightmarish injustice.


Once Mr Miles has been exonerated, it can and will set a (much needed) precedent for future cases......And this is what needs to happen in order to bring on change towards safeguarding the rights of us all.
