Help Kahory continue rehabilitation!

Ana Kahory Fernandez Chacon is an amazing adventurous 20 year old college student from Xalapa Veracruz, Mexico. This past summer, Kahory was determined to travel to the United States and work at a children's camp. Lake of the Woods/Greenwoods Camps in Michigan was fortunate to welcome Kahory and 20 other international staff. Kahory worked with a wonderful Housekeeping Team to ensure the cleanliness and well-being of our campers and staff.

On August 11th, Kahory experienced a brain bleed and stroke due to a medical condition that effects 1% of the population; AVM (arteriovenous malformation). Thankfully, due to the quick response from her co-workers and friends, Kahory was immediately transported to the hospital for emergency surgery. It was this that saved her life.

After brain surgery, 3-weeks hospitalized and 3-weeks of in-patient rehabilitation, she and her mother were able to travel home to Mexico. Kahory has regained her speech and mental sharpness. She is working on rebuilding the use and strength of her right arm and right leg. We want to offer her the best rehabilitation treatment and opportunity for a full recovery. We thank all of those involved in supporting Kahory and her mother through this journey - camp staff, hospital staff, rehabilitation staff, and interpreters all while in Michigan.
