Campaign Story
Hard working mom
Two days before NYE 2021, Juvelynn Lerma, 40, was rushed by her husband, Paulo, to the nearest hospital(Medical City) from her office due to shortness of breath and flank pain. Staying for just a couple of days in a private hospital, the bill immediately ballooned and maxed her health card coverage.
Sad New Year’s Eve
Before transferring to a government hospital(Heart Center), Ate Juvy had to spend the NYE away from their 2 children, left to the care of their relatives. With a week more of not knowing when their parents are coming home, thankfully, she was discharged and sent home after recovering from Pneumonia.
Doctor’s diagnosis
After a couple of tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Mitral valve stenosis or mitral stenosis — is a narrowing of the heart's mitral valve. This abnormal valve doesn't open properly, blocking blood flow into the main pumping chamber of her heart (left ventricle) and Tricuspid regurgitation.
Tricuspid regurgitation is a disorder in which this valve does not close tight enough. This problem causes blood to flow backward into the right upper heart chamber (atrium) when the right lower heart chamber (ventricle) contracts.
These 2 heart valves needs to be operated and replaced.
Heavy Financial burden
With complicated heart procedure comes with a price of more or less than a million pesos (almost $20,000). A price in which the family cannot bear.
Currently, Juvelynn Lerma’s job is the main source of income for the family. His husband Paulo a former OFW (sent home due to new US employment policies) is now helping make ends meet freelancing and selling goods while juggling the online classes of their 2 young children, ages 6 and 7.
An operation is needed for her heart valves as time is of the essence as these can lead to a more severe heart complications.
With the help of your kind and generous donation our family will be able to pay for:
- Operation procedures (hospital bills, doctor fees)
- Medications
- Post operation check-ups
Thank you in advance for your kind generosity.
May the Lord bless you beyond measure as you give!
