Justin’s fight against GBS (Guillain-Barré Syndrome)

This fundraiser is set up to help for the cost of medical expenses for our brother and cousin, Justin Shane Elgario. He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome last March 18, 2021.

Guillain-Barré Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks part of its nervous system. It can range from a very mild case with brief weakness to nearly devastating paralysis. This syndrome requires immediate medication for a better chance of a good result.

He will be undergoing IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobulin) treatment, a treatment that helps stop the harmful antibodies damaging the nerves and will be given directly to his vein. The treatment must be done within 5 consecutive days for him to recover and gain back his energy. The cost for the treatment is PHP 5,000 per injection which will be used for at least 6x a day which will cost us PHP 30,000 / day. Other medical fees are excluded. He is also on a ventilator to help him breathe, catheter for his difficulty in peeing and other medicines to ease his pains. As of this time he is still in the ICU(intensive care unit) for close monitoring of his vital signs
