My beautiful sister in law has always been super outgoing, smart and just full of life.

Last Thursday, my husband Josh (her brother) and myself received one of the most chilling messages we could have received.

"At hospital with Rick and Tracy".

I didn't think too much into it, maybe it was a car accident or something minor. I called the number in the message and spoke to one of their friends asking if everything was okay.

"They were attacked- they were both shot".

Immediately I panicked. Our family's life will now be forever changed.

I called Josh right away, and as soon as I told him what had happened, he thought she was dead.

Our family came together and got us plane tickets to Tampa for an immediate flight out. As soon as we got to the hospital, this is what we saw.

She suffered multiple injuries, including being stabbed between C5 and C6 causing significant spinal cord damage, being shot multiple times in the face and genitals, causing her to lose her left eye, and a slit throat. She is now paralyzed from the chest down.

She was JUST at our house the weekend before, reading to our daughter, planning a trip to Disney with us just 36 hours prior to this monster attacking her.

We had found out about a month prior that Franc had a history of abuse- Tracy even had him arrested in August for battery. While she was at our house, we had advised her to leave Tampa, come back to Chicago and move in with us until she could get back on her feet.

Emotions are still running strong about everything involving this situation.

Last update from the medical staff here in Tampa is that the goal is to get her out of the ICU and onto the floor by the end of the week. Eventually she will make it to inpatient rehab Iin Chicago.
