Dear supporters:

Thank you for your steadfast solidarity, the Justice4Sanaz campaign has achieved the following during the past year:

-- The support of 5 UK student unions: King's College London, Royal Holloway, University of London, Bradford University, University of Bristol and the School of Oriential and African Studies, University of London.

-- The support of the NUS Black Students' Campaign.

-- The support of Defend Education Birminghan

-- The support of Leeds No Borders and Manchester No Borders.

-- and finally the support of the University of Birmingham's Ethnic Minorities Association.

This August, Sanaz Raji received good news from the Legal Aid agency that is currently funding her legal team, which has recently filed a judical review against a decision by the Office of Independent Adjudicators for Higher Education (OIAHE). However, in order for Sanaz to receive legal aid, she must reside in the UK. The Home Office, however, is not making things easy for Sanaz, and are now very close to deporting her. You can read more here Sanaz's legal and immigration situation here: http://ceasefiremagazine.co.uk/neoliberalism-higher-education-sanaz-rajis-struggle-justice/

In order for Sanaz to continue her fight that benefits all non-EU students, she must be able to legally reside in the UK.

As National Union of Students (NUS) International Officer, Shreya Paudel has remarked,

‘We have been informed of some students being called for a “meeting” with the Home Office and then being detained to be deported. Even proven British criminals have substantially more rights to challenge a case against them than international students. Even the minimum legal concept of ‘innocent before proven guilty’ does not apply to international students.’
http://www.nusconnect.org.uk/blogs/blog/shreyapaudel/2014/07/24/International-Students-and-state-sponsored-discrimination-No-recourse-no-refunds-no-rights/

If you believe that non-EU international students and scholars should be allowed the basic human right of challenging their universities for negligence and failure to provide adequate education and services without the threat of deportation, please give to this campaign.

Many thanks!
