Nasser is Ethiopian of the Oromo ethnic group. He was brutally persecuted and tortured by the ethnic group in power and had to flee his country. After a difficult escape and a long life-endangering journey crossing the Mediterranean in a run-down boat, he came to Austria in 2015 and received asylum in 2017.

Since then he has mainly worked for a parcel delivery service. His employers were always satisfied with his work, and there was never the slightest complaint from customers.

At last he had managed to start a new life without fear.

Last August a new nightmare began. He had to deliver parcels to a small village where he was insulted several times because of his African origin. One would find ways and means to send him back to "his black people", he was told. He reported this twice to the police, who told him they could not intervene.

Shortly afterwards, there was a message that he had sexually harassed two women when delivering parcels to a company in the same village. When he asked to see the video from the surveillance camera, no video was shown to him, nor any victims came forward. Instead four women, who had received parcels at their homes, where no video cameras were installed, reported to the police that he had sexually molested them.

We have known Nasser since he arrived in Austria. He has always been very keen to respect all the rules and laws in Austria, as he remembers well the fear and persecution he had suffered in his home country. For no reason would he put his asylum status at risk. The parcels were delivered in public entrances or at front doors, where any harassment would have been extremely risky. After having led an absolutely orderly life for nearly four years and worked to everybody's satisfaction he certainly would not risk in just two weeks everything he had created for himself by sexually harassing four women in a small Tyrolean village where most of the inhabitants know each other.

Nasser needs our help so that a competent lawyer can defend him in court against these false accusations based on racist hatred.
