Justice for Kiongozi Jones

Currently Kiongozi (KIO) is being held on California’s death row at San Quentin State Prison. He is an innocent man caught up in the injustices of the corrupt system that has victimized so many of our loved ones from low income communities, especially if they were not able to retain adequate representation. On December 13, 1996 KIO was arrested and falsely charged with two counts of murder and assault. He has professed his innocence from the very day of his arrest even to the point of submitting to a lie detector test. Before this conviction the charges against KIO were dismissed three times before trial and illegally re-filed. The first trial ended in a hung jury which was 11-1 & 10-2, for all accounts in Kio's favor. Many of the jurors were not biased in the first trial which would have ended in acquittal. Some jurors felt they had to give the victims family the benefit of the doubt and looked beyond the evidence due to the DA's coercion. KIO is an innocent man charged and convicted of a crime HE did not commit.
