Last year on September 23, 2014, my husband Joe Brown a Black man was wrongfully arrested for the murder of a young white man in the small town where we live. This is a crime he is not capable of and did not commit. He has been in jail since that time and I have been unable to get him out on bond. Both of our lives have been turned up side down. During the midst of all this turmoil my mom died adding further stress to my life. We had no money saved for legal defense and we did not want to go to court in this town where the legal system is ruled by white people and some of them are related to the victim. I have used every dollar I have to help with his legal defense but it is not enough and I don't know where I will get the money to help him. He is not a perfect man but he has a very kind and tender heart and he loves everyone he meets. He is locked up in a small jail and has been treated very cruelly by the Sheriff's department. He has health conditions and has not gotten the medical attention he needs. They are not interested in finding the person or persons who committed this act. They are holding him on the word of a person who claims to have seen him on a dark dirt road. His health is getting worse. He has asthma, high blood pressure, several disks that are bulging in his back. He has received no treatment for his back condition since he has been locked up, and rarely gets his other medicines. He also has problems with his prostate and hasn't been getting his medicines. Right now he is locked in a cell without running water. He said they brought him water in an empty Pine Sol bottle and Hawaiian punch jug. We are poor people and there seems to be no justice for us. I feel if the shoes were on the other foot things would be different. I am not in the best of health myself, and I have been neglecting my health because I don't have money for the things I need for myself. I need money to finish paying the lawyer working on the case and the private investigator we hired. Right now he is accepting small payments that I am allowed to make. I am looking for a miracle from someone to help us. The investigator even suspects a major cover-up in this case. If there is anyone out willing to help my cause I would appreciate whatever donations I receive. Thank all of you and God Bless you. I am also asking for your continued prayers. Thank you!.

Since my last post my husbands mom has been diagnosed with two tumors. This has put an enormous strain on her health as well as his. I am pleading for anyone who has a heart to help us. I know you feel that this is the story of everyone who is incarcerated or who has a family member in jail. I just pray that someone who has a heart and believes that a person should be presumed innocent until proven guilty to please open your heart and help us.

Thank you.
