My middle school teacher nominated me to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC) in Washington, D.C. He recognizes me as an outstanding individual who has achieved academic excellence and possess strong leadership potential. In the St. Joseph area, only four other Bode Middle School students have attended JrNYLC (three students in 2008 and one in 2009)
This is an educational experience of a lifetime. I will travel to Washington, D.C. and experience the many museums and memorials our capital city has to offer. As a special guest, I will visit the historic Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in West Virginia and even attend a sleepover at the Maryland Science Center.
I will also have the opportunity to meet and learn from some of today's leaders, as well as learn from high-achievers of the past. This experience will introduce me to students from all over the nation who have similar dreams and a determination for success.
I hope to return from JrNYLC with enhanced skills and abilities, not only to understand the key concepts of leadership, but to apply the skills in my everyday life.
The funds I collect will pay for tuition to the conference, hotels, shuttles, transportation to various destinations, airfare, and any other necessary trip expenses.
