Hello everyone. My name is Alma Santos, and one of my closest cousins, Juliene Lalo-Escarpe needs urgent help.

Last July 14, Juliene, who was 6 months pregnant, was rushed to the hospital due to sudden vomiting. Without any other choice, she went into labor 2 days after, but the beautiful baby girl was only given 8 hours to live.

July 18, she was discharged from the hospital. Going home expecting to have a newborn baby with you but arranging her burial instead is already very hard. I can only imagine her pain.

July 19, she was suggested to find a tertiary hospital to find out the real reason why she was vomiting. Due to COVID & because all hospitals are full, it took them almost 2 days to find a new one that can take her in: Grace Hospital.

July 21, numerous tests were done right away. Because of the complications, Juliene’s heart also stopped at one point but was thankfully revived by her doctors.

July 22nd, her tests confirmed that she has Sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s response to an infection. Following days were spent trying to manage this while also treating kidney failure that resulted in putting an internal jugular catheter, at the same time also treating gastro issues, and heart problems.

July 31, she was referred to a gastronologist & was given an order the next day to perform Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis & enterostomy, an operation that costs PHP 250,000, and on top of that, their running bill is PHP 557,762.00. Juliene’s dad (my mom’s brother) and husband are doing everything they can to cover for these bills & expenses.

August 2, today, is the date of surgery and she is currently at the recovery room. Thank God!!

I know that this pandemic is really hard for everyone financially but I am just trying to make Juliene’s story reach more people who might consider contributing to help support my cousin in her fight because I am sure it’s going to be a long road ahead to recovery for her.

With the funds collected, I hope to help ease her family's stress and uncertainty. Thank you to anyone who even bothers to read / glance at this page and many many many thank you's to anyone who feels moved to help my cousin.
