Campaign Story
Dear Friends,
I am not sure if you are aware of the devastating news that Julie received last Sunday. If you didn't please let me tell you... Julie was called at around three o'clock in the afternoon to be told that her daughter had been involved in a car crash. Julie rushed to the crash scene as the incident happened very close to her house and was immediately faced with paramedics trying to resuscitate her daughter. Emily died at the scene and her partner and two young children had to be cut out from the car and were rushed to hospital as they all had severe injuries. Bryony, Julie's seven year old granddaughter, has a fractured pelvis and has swelling of the lungs; Oliver, her four year old grandson, has three broken ribs, a massive laceration to the head and also swollen lungs. They have both been discharged from hospital and Julie is looking after them until their dad has recovered from his horrific injuries and is discharged from hospital. Julie's heart is broken but can't allow herself to fully grieve as she has to be strong for her two little grandchildren. Life will never be the same again for this wonderful family and I know that Julie is going to be there holding everyone together.
If you know Julie you will also know what a rough life she has had, she hasn't had the best of luck and yet her strength, determination and positivity has made her do amazing things and overcome the hardest obstacles.
I don’t know if you know that she was illiterate until her twenties and now she works in a school as a classroom assistant! She was the one who found her husband dead after he committed suicide, leaving her on her own with three very young children. When she finally started to rebuild her life with Steven, her current partner, he was rushed into hospital with encephalitis (swelling of the brain) and was in a coma for days. He miraculously recovered but lost his job as he could not carry on being a lorry driver. He eventually found a job as a fork lift driver and was unfortunate to be in an accident which involved a motorbike crashing into his fork lift truck at high speed resulting in the death of the motorcyclist. He was suspended from his job and had to attend counselling for months while the court case developed. He was found to be not guilty of dangerous driving and was reinstated at work. They thought that their bad luck was behind them. Since then he has had further health scares regarding his brain but they have both dealt with it with strength and an incredible sense of humour. That is until these recent events….
This incident has knocked Julie for six as you can imagine, so I am approaching you to see if WE, all of her friends who have shared amazing moments with her, can help to somehow bring a small smile back to her face.
I know how much she has always wanted to go to Machu Picchu in Peru so I am trying to raise funds so when she can and she is ready, she can go on a trip of a lifetime and hopefully for a few days enjoy life a little, forget about her bad luck and bring a smile to her face.
I know I am always asking for money but I approach all of you with advanced gratitude as I know we can all do a little for Julie, she needs it and she deserves a little bit of good luck. Hopefully WE can be Julie’s little bit of good luck!!
Thank you
Eva xxx
