JSA Georgetown Summer Session I

     Welcome to my fundraising Page! My name is Joseph Spir, I am 16 years old and an 11th grader at Commonwealth-Parkville School in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  I have been selected to attend The Junior Statesmen Summer School at Georgetown University in June - July 2015. This enrichment program is open to 250 high school students from across the nation who are interested in politics and government.

     It is an honor to be selected for the Georgetown Summer School program, and I am excited to attend. That is why I have created this fundraiser page, in order to find financial support to help me attend. The original amount I needed to attend the program was $5,500.  I received a generous "need based" scholarship from JSA and have received financial aid from family and friends to cover my tuition and room & board (it has been a wonderful and rewarding experience!), but there are some other people who wrote to us that they wanted to participate, although they needed to wait a bit longer due to pay schedules, budget, etc.  I still need to raise $500 dollars to pay for insurance, airfare and some materials; if you wish to help me reach that goal, you may participate by clicking on "Donate Now" (you may use PayPal or Credit Card), or share this page, which is another great way to help!  

              A donation of any amount will make a big difference. Your contribution will help me attend the program, where I will learn how to get involved in government and develop the skills to make a difference. Fundraising is one of the requirements of this program. I'll be getting outstanding leadership training: college-level academic course work taught at a first-class university by college professors, daily debates, a speaker's program where we'll meet and question political leaders and of course -- local field trips to great notable places in the area.  Please, help me support my effort to get to Junior State Summer School by sponsoring me!  Thank you.
