This is my 2-year old niece, Tazz Cerafina D. Lapingcao. She used to be a very bright and active kid who loved to sing, dance and run around just like any other toddler. We've always believed that she's a fast learner and smarter than other kids her age. Tazz has always been our family's constant source of joy and strength. Unfortunately, in July 2018, our little angel was confined in the pediatric ICU after several bouts of seizures due to high fever, which left her unconscious for 6 days. After the results of her lumbar puncture or spinal tap came out negative for any bacterial infection, several diagnosis such as dengue fever, meningitis and Japanese encephalitis were ruled out. Until now, doctors have not completely identified the cause of her infection, but based off of the symptoms and clinical findings, they reported that she might have suffered from "viral encephalitis", which, in turn, has affected her overall motor, vision, speech and mental capacity. As a result, Tazz now has cerebral palsy and has been in and out of the hospital several times since July. Earlier this month, she was once again confined in the pediatric ICU for bloating and abdominal problems. Several tests have found that she has necrotizing enterocolitis, a serious intestinal disease caused by severely damaged or death of cells or tissues, and has already been corrected through an emergency exploratory laparotomy surgery, where portions of her intestines have been cut and removed. While the open surgery was a success, she is still currently in the pediatric ICU, as doctors and surgeons continuously assess and monitor her medical status, post-op. Tazz, who is under the primary care of her paternal grandparents, is in need of financial aid for her hospitalization and other medical expenses. We are raising money for her ongoing treatment and medical bills amounting to Php. 600,000.00. Due to Tazz's general health condition, we are also anticipating and preparing for a lifetime of medical care, although complete diagnosis of her illness as well as succeeding treatments for her healing and recovery have yet to be determined. My family and I are first and foremost thankful to God for sustaining us every day. As we continue on in keeping our faith, our little angel also never ceases to amaze us by showing everyone how much of a fighter she truly is. Meanwhile, we would also like to appeal to and knock on your kind and gracious hearts for support - in prayers and in kind. Any donation is greatly and deeply appreciated. Thank you for all your help, in any shape or form, and for your continued prayers. We are truly and immensely forever grateful and may God bless you a thousand folds.
