Campaign Story
Hey everyone.
For those who don't know and those who do, but need updates, here is the following information:
Last Saturday, Josh was riding home from the airport when he had an accident. He is lucky to be alive.
He was going 100km/h, sober, and there was something in the road that caught his front wheel, and he lost control.
There was a guy towing an ambulance which had broken down, travelling behind Josh and he stopped to help, so Josh has immediate roadside assistance. Thanks to Hans from SA Private Ambulance Service, who owns the company and was driving that night.
Mike came and got the White Pony off the road and took it back to his place. We'll deal with that once we have Josh fully-functional once again.
Back to Josh. He went to Westville Emergency around 21h00, and the doctor and nurses and everyone were really kind and patient. We got him home around 03h00, having decided not to admit him and take him home, since he would only see the orthopedic specialist on Monday.
Yesterday, we discovered that the medical insurance we thought we had was not going to cover any accidental injury or hospital or surgery or anything. Thanks, One Plan. That's about R38 000 that I could have used on a surgery, but instead went to you, and no doubt helped to buy someone his new Merc. Oh, and the accident cover I thought I had from 2006? Not really.
So the ortho told us Josh's knee needs surgery. It's going to cost about R100k if we go through private healthcare, which we can't. He referred us to an ortho at King Edward, the government hospital down the road, and we spent most of the day and some of the night, waiting to go through the process.
Unfortunately the standard of care received at King Edward Hospital was dangerously below expectations, and they have now decided to try to get him into Hillcrest Private Hospital, and need financial help with this.
Thank you for your support
