Campaign Story
11-24-17 My Mom, Joni Snyder became a stroke survivor. Earlier in the day at about 1pm she fell and had symptoms of being dehydrated so we didn’t think much of it besides getting food and water in her system. That was until she was rushed to Bonner General Hospital after falling a second time at about 5pm and becoming completely incoherent. They got her in right away and did a MRI that showed she had a blood clot on the left side of her brain. They gave her TPA to hopefully dissolve the clot and had her life flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA. That’s when they saw that the clot was not dissolving and went in surgically through the artery starting in her groin and went up to the brain and succefully removed the blood clot on the left side. When she came out of surgery she was unable to talk and had numbness in her right side. She could understand what we were saying but couldn’t get the words out she wanted to say as well as drooping on the right side of her mouth. It wasn’t very long before she started improving and the doctors were very happy with how she was progressing. The drooping is now completely gone and that beautiful smile everyone loves is back and she’s putting sentences together like a champ. They did another MRI at 4am this morning that can back that there are no additional signs of clots left in the left side of the brain. The right side had speckled stroke spots but very minimal. This is where they came to the conclusion that she actually had 2 clots; the one on the left that had to be removed and one on the right that was significantly smaller but was broken when administered the TPA. Her motor skills are great and her speach is rapidly improving. She will need therapy but they have no doubt that she will fully recover. Right now it’s really just the speach that needs worked on but it already sounds really good. My Mom is the absolute strongest person I know and she has fought this thing amazingly. Since we are in WA and are unsure of when we are going to be able to go back home and are unsure how long she will be out of work i’m asking for you’re help for someone that continuously gives back to the community and has such a beautiful soul to releave some of the burden of the added medical expenses, travel expenses, and monthly bills while she is going through this. Her out of pocket alone is $7,150. God has unfolded miracles these past couple days and we are in awe by His healing and unconditinlove that has been showered on my Mom and family during this time.
