Join the dream, invest in a miracle and make a cure in sight a reality!

Motivation:

In 2017 the Western Cape Branch of Retina South Africa held our first High Tea fundraising event which turned out to be a phenomenal success beyond our expectations. We had 9 tables of 10 people each – this was supposed to be 10 tables of 10 people each but sadly one entire table did not pitch on the day which was very disappointing because we actually had a waiting list of people we had to turn away right up to a night before the event.

This year we were determined to have less people on our waiting list and because all our hosts last year promised to return this year, we made sure we booked a venue large enough to accommodate more tables. We have managed to secure the Claremont Civic Centre for our event this year and hope to have at least 15 tables of 10 people each.

Our Concept and Event Elements:

Our date for this event is Thursday 9 August 2018 (Public Holiday) National Women’s Day.

Theme: Our theme for this year is Flirty Florals and our hosts and guests are invited to be as floral and as flirty as they want to be. Floral hats, tops, skirts, dresses, floral tables – everything floral to be as bright and provocative as they want to be.

Target audience: focusing on women – young women, older women, middle-aged and anything in-between. Spoil your mom/granny/aunty whoever is a special woman in your life.

Our aim/objective:Fundraising is an ongoing activity of the branch, and we try to raise as much funds as possible to put towards research into finding treatments and cures for Retinal degenerative disorders.

Our sponsor for our tables and chairs has let us down and is unable to donate tables and chairs for our event. We are also needing to hire someone to provide sound which means spending money we don’t really have available.

Our appeal is therefore to raise sufficient funds to be able to hire the tables and chairs we require and also to hire someone who can provide sound for our event.
