Join Kerry in the fight Scleroderma vs Game Design

Hello!

I am Kerry-Ann McLeod and I am coming to you from Jamaica with a request to help me with a deep need that I am unable to remedy by myself.

I am a wife and a mother who loves to write Christian articles/meditations and desires to pursue Christian game development. I have a passion for leading worship and I am the youth ministry coordinator at my church. Ever since my retirement, I offer free Math classes to the youth in the immediate community.

For ten years, I have served as a High School Math teacher but, starting back in February 2019, my health began to take a drastic decline. After a series of hospitalizations, and subsequently the inability to effectively execute my responsibilities as a teacher, I was recommended for early retirement by the Ministry of Health. This change will significantly increase my insurance premium as it was heavily subsidized through my employer.

I was diagnosed with what is known as SCLERODERMA in 2016 during my visit to Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn New York after years of being treated for Lupus. (specific info can be found here: https://www.scleroderma.org/site/SPageNavigator/pa...), My condition is systemic which includes:

- Lung emphysema

- Malabsorption resulting in rapid weight loss, dizziness, fatigue, & chronic diarrhea

- Claw hand deformity and limited joint movement

- Raynaud's disorder with ulcers

- Restrictions in esophagus

In view of the fact that this illness has made me unable to work, I will no longer have the benefit of health insurance which was granted via my employer. Medications include a monthly supply of:

- Digestive enzymes

- Anti-inflammatory

- Pain relief

- Supplements

Although free basic health care is available in Jamaica, it is not beneficial to me as my diagnosis requires regular visits to several specialists such as:

● Rheumatologist

● Gastrointestinal Specialist

● Pulmonary Specialist

● General family Doctor.

It is my vision to contribute to industry standard Christian entertainment such as game development and short Christian animations. However, Since the dramatic decline in health I have not been able to efficiently pursue this dream because of the associated expenses and the challenges experienced with malabsorption and claw hand deformity..

This campaign is in an effort to raise US $10 000 which will provide the necessary funds to assist in the monthly expenses incurred from coping with the chronic illness of Scleroderma. In addition to medications, doctor visits and traveling expenses, the proceeds from this funding will assist in sustaining a sensitive digestive system as such a diet can be costly.
