Johnny Rotten’s Medical Expenses

Meet Johnny Rotten, man of a house full of ladies and ruler of back alleys in east van. Though he loves nothing more than to roll around in dust piles, he has a discerning palette, enjoying fine foods like tuna broth and only the best hypoallergenic kibble. He goes crazy for stuffed toys filled with catnip and only accepts pets on his terms. He is loved by all and leaves his mark on everyone he meets with a coating of white cat hair. His devoted roomies keep him in his drug of choice, catnip, but it's his devoted mama, Marie, that really goes the extra mile with the poop scooper, fancy menu, and vet visits.

So, Johnny has had an eventful life, starting out dropped in a cardboard box on the vet's doorstep. Soon after, he adopted Marie as his own and has been living the high life ever since. Recently, he was diagnosed with what's called a saddle thrombus. The blood flow to his two back legs was blocked by a clot, leaving him unable to walk and in a lot of pain. The prognosis for cats with this condition isn't promising and we were trying to prepare ourselves for the worst. However, Johnny Rotten didn't get the memo and to the surprise of veterinary professionals across BC, Johnny is now up and walking with a new swagger in his step. Amazingly, this has been just another small speed bump in John's already eventful life.

Of course, our happy medical miracle has come with a price. After a traumatic and exhausting week of sleepless nights, tough decisions and endless trips to the vet for blood thinners, pain medication and diagnostics, Marie is stretched to the limit. Since this condition is often re-occurring, we, as John's family, want to give him the best possible care going forward into the next phase of tests and prescriptions. We are reaching out to friends, family, and cat lovers everywhere for help. Any support, no matter how small, would be extremely beneficial.
