John Wildgrube’s Bangkok2Rayong Cycle

I am cycling from Rayong to Bangkok on 29th February 2016 to raise money for this fantastic cause. I will be taking on a gruelling XXX km in hot conditions - the challenge of a life time!

Please dig deep and sponsor me to make all of this worth it. Here are some more details of the campaign below.

We are launching a campaign to renovate and improve our garden and sports court at Rainbow House. The court is over 10 years old and the surface has severely decayed, so we need a new sports surface. We also need a roof to provide shade from the hot Thailand sun and also cover from the rain (especially during hot season!) as well as protection for our special new surface. We will also install lights so that sports can be played during the cooler evening times after dark.

Sport is so powerful in rehabilitating children and young adults with disabilities. Sport is a universal language which transcends language and cultural barriers, enabling our children, staff and volunteers to play together, build relationships and be empowered on a court where everyone is equal and everyone has the chance to have a try, learn new skills and fulfil dreams.

It is expected that with a new roof and new surface in place the Multi-Purpose Sports Court can be used all year round for exercises, sports, games and raising the flag/singing the National Anthem. Having lights will enable play in the evenings which is much cooler and allows flexibility for some of our older residents who now are doing work experience or have jobs during the day time. With providing protection from the sun and rain, the new surface will last much longer and not be slippery when it is rainy. This will benefit all our projects and also people in the local community who use our facility for their disabled children.
