This campaign is to raise funds to help Mr John Toolaram Marajh as best as we can with medical care and treatment that will be needed. It will also be used to help him to pursue and complete his current and future goals and ambitions that he has in life.

John Marajh who is a retired police officer at the age of 57 years old is currently suffering from depression and lives alone in a small apartment but is in need of surgery immediately. He has a past medical history for some mild chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He also underwent open umbilical hernia repair in 2001 and then a recurrent incarcerated ventral Incision Hernia Repair in 2002 in Trinidad. He had an early recurrence and has been living with it for some time and has gotten larger and more uncomfortable and recently severely painful. His family has left him alone believing that he has no hope, but he is presently receiving charity physiotherapy to help him to receive mobility within his body. He has many dreams and ambitions just like the rest of us but may be unable to chase them considering his current circumstances, he wishes to fulfill his goals in life and become better, so he can get his family back and at least spend a little time with them. He has been through a lot in his years. He underwent Recurrent Multiple Incisimal Hernia repair, which was successful. But post operatively had developed a large wound due to morbid obesity and multiple prvious surgeries of abdomen which requires proper wound treatment. It was recommended that either wound vac placement or twice daily wet today wound care. His parents had a history of diabetes, but he has two (2) healthy children.

Mr. Marajh is in need of two (2) surgeries. The first being Bariatric surgery which is also known as weight loss surgery. This is done by reducing the size of the stomach with a gastric bands or through removal of a portion of the stomach or by resecting and re-routing the small intestine to a small stomach pouch. The second is Abdominal Reconstruction Surgery which is normally used to correct abdominal weakness caused by recurring hernias, or open wounds that are not easily resolved by specialties. Normally, the first line of hernia correction is general surgery but having performed this surgery once already which is very costly he is unable to afford it. This surgery that is required is not a general one but a more complexed one that requires plastic surgeons to move the abdominal tissue and redistribute the abdominal muscles hence reshaping it. There are some circumstances that will not improve spontaneously. If a complex hernia or abdominal wound is left alone, the problem often tends to progressively worsen, which may result in drainage, sinus formation, fistula or other problems.

We are hoping to reach the goal of $30,000 USD by November 12th, if not sooner. We aim to reach this goal as soon as possible to lend him a helping hand.

On behalf of Mr John Marajh we thank and appreciate you for your contribution. Even the smallest donation will help to make a difference in his life, as it will be for a good cause to help a man who has served his country and wishes to have a "normal" life.
