My Grandfather John Wilson aged 63, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease ten years ago. Ever since his diagnosis his condition has become progressively worse - moreso over the last twelve months. For example, Parkinson's causes my Grandfather to uncontrollably freeze on the spot at any moment, unable to move again for any given period of time. He suffers from drooling, difficulty mobilising often resulting in shuffling and slow mobility. His mood has become very low at times when his symptoms are at their worst, due to the way in which they have reduced his quality of life. He suffers from tremors, stiffness of the muscles, dystonia (involuntary cramps and spasms), postural instability & sleep disturbances. To manage these symptoms my Grandfather is currently taking fourteen different medications daily for his Parkinson's alone.
My Grandfather has always been such a fun, loving, kind hearted gentleman giving so much to his family, friends and colleagues. It saddens me greatly to see him suffering and I feel so helpless, however we have recently discovered Stem Cell Treatment and learnt of it's potential to improve his quality of life. The treatment is not yet available in the UK as it is still in its early stages, however my Grandfather has been accepted as a patient in Ukraine. This treatment can prevent his Parkinson's Disease from progressing any further and potentially better his health in regards to his condition, however the treatment is going to cost £8,000.00 in total. To raise the total cost of the treatment would be amazing, however to raise a mere fraction of this too would be a blessing.
Knowing that there is potential for my Grandfather's quality of life to improve fills me with such hope as the treatment is so promising, but comes at such a great cost. Parkinson's is a devastating disease and I want to help my Grandfather undergo Stem Cell Treatment as his health and happiness is so important to me. I love him deeply and cannot let this opportunity pass him by. I believe it is time to give back to my Grandafther and so I am asking for the help of all those who see this, words would never be able to express our thanks.
