Campaign Story
My name is Megan, I’m a second year medical student at the University of Leeds and I’ve signed up to do a charity bike ride from John O’Groats in Caithness, Scotland, to Land’s End in Cornwall, England. It is approx. 874mile by road, the whole of the island of Great Britain, and as a group we hope to do it in just under 2 weeks.
We will be raising money for two amazing charities. The first is Great Ormond Street Hospital; this year we will be raising money for a cardiac intensive care cubicle that allows parents to stay with their children when they are so very ill. The second charity that we hope to raise money for is Light in Africa, a charity based in Tanzania. It provides shelter and care for orphaned street children who have no other hope. This charity was set up by a woman from Leeds who visited the country on holiday and was moved by the plight of these
children. Her work has proved an inspiration to all and she relies heavily on funding from Leeds University, in particularly this bike ride.
I hope to raise a minimum of £500 for the two charities so whether it's a few pennies or pounds you have to spare, your help will be greatly appreciated!
