Overview

Johannesburg Anti-Littering Campaign (Jalic) is an initiative founded by the responsible citizen of Jo'burg to maintain Joburg's 'World Class African City' status through cleanliness. A clean city breeds clean and productive citizens. The idea of an always clean city was born from the love of Jo'burg by Joburgans.

We all know that the local municipality is trying all they can to keep the city clean but us as responsible citizens we need to play our role and that is keeping our city clean. We all have kids and we all know what litter can cause not limited to cholera, diarrhoea etc. We all want a clean and productive environment.

Together as responsible citizens we need to get up and keep our City clean. It is everyone's responsibility to fight for what is actually ours and that is Jo'burg other than vandalising state property. We all know times are tough and there are know jobs out there, therefore from this campaign we can not only promote a clean environmental culture but we also empower the unemployed by being part of the Campaign.

The campaign is estimated to last for almost a week of cleaning and followed by a beauty contest. The contest is organised to raise environmental awareness. Global warming is real and it all begin with littering. Litter does not belong in the society. We therefore call upon all stakeholders, companies, government agencies, municipality, schools, colleges, universities, recycling companies, churches and individuals to partake in this campaign.

We also emphasize on the issue of Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.

# To emphasise the principle of Recycle, Reuse and Reduce
