Joel’s SMA Support

My Son Joel has been diagnosed with SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) Type 1 SMA is caused by deterioration in the nerve cells (motor neurons) connecting the brain and spinal cord to the body's muscles.As the link between the nerves and muscles breaks down, the muscles used for activities such as breathing, swallowing, crawling, walking, sitting up and moving the head become progressively weaker and shrink (atrophy). Mental abilities are unaffected by SMA. im hoping to get him some equipment to better his life and buy him that little bit of freedom he needs although the NHS are doing a great job when it comes to equipment (even something as small as a bath support) seems to get refused funding all the proceeds will go towards getting Joel comfy such as anti pressure mattress bath molds to a little mobility later in life :)
