Our dear friend and founder, Joe Homan who founded villages for poor and destitute children in Southern India, died on 30th March last year aged 85 after an extraordinary life of love and service to the children of India. In more than 50 years, more than 18,000 children passed through these villages.

Over the past 50 years, India has seen many changes with improvements in infrastructure and better healthcare being just two of the ways in which many Indians will have benefitted. India’s economy has improved also but, unfortunately, the very poor are still there. Those marginalised by society remain very much as they have always been. Indeed, in spite of India’s economic advancements, there are still more than 250 million people in India below the poverty line; inevitably many of these are children.

We are, of course, very keen to ensure that Joe’s sterling work continues for many years to come. Consequently, our Trustees are launching a campaign to raise £100,000 to ensure that we can protect and extend the work that Joe started. It will help us to renew and protect the many projects that Joe pioneered.

Many of you who have supported the charity in the past, no doubt, having had the privilege of meeting Joe too. We now ask whether you would consider helping us to reach our target in his memory. We do hope that you will be able to respond positively to this request.
