Campaign Story
Hello everyone,
I am Joseph Sison. My friends call me Joc.
Background
This is my mom. She just had her surgery last December of 2019 due to breast cancer. She had aftercare post-surgery and thankfully she was able to survive the disease. She is getting better. However, she has her maintenance medicine that she needs to take daily for 5 years. Still, I am really thankful that she is recovering well.
However, soon after, I started to feel pain on my right back and chest. The pain was accompanied with fever. It was an on and off scenario for me for 6 months. I was hesitant to go to the hospital in fear of the Covid19 virus. But the pain and fever became too severe that I felt that seeing a doctor for a check-up was already necessary if I wanted to get better. Come August, I thought of having myself checked by a doctor.
Diagnosis
It was at that time when a huge mass was found on top of my right lung. The size being half the size of the right lobe. I was advised to have a CT scan to confirm the presence of the huge mass. Thus, it was accurately proven that it exists on top of my right lung. I stayed for 3 days at the hospital after which I was discharged last Oct 10,2020 . As per doctor's advise, I had to stay at home and wait for the biopsy result after a week and a half.
However, I noticed that my face started to get bloated and swollen as I experienced difficulty in breating, sever coughing, and fever. I could hardly sleep at night and I always felt restless because of the pain on my back and chest. The right side of my neck was already severely strained by excessive coughing. The doctor said that I already had the vena cava syndrome. (The VCS is a syndrome that affects the major valve or artery where the blood and oxygen pass from the heart going to the brain. Said process is being prevented by the huge mass on my right lung.) I experienced chills at night and I felt that I started to feel weaker and weaker as the days passed by. My parents decided to bring me back to Phillpine General Hospital and have me confined last October 18, 2020 at 6pm.
Currently, I am still confined at the hospital.(as of Oct 24,2020, 1:00PM). Now, I also have complications with my right arm and hand which I couldn't use as it was too numb and swollen.
The biopsy result was then released. It was found out that I have Burkitt Lymphoma or the B-Cell Lymphoma. A rare kind from among the types of lymphoma.
The treatment for this kind of cancer requires chemotherapy and radiation, and if necessary, surgery to eliminate the cancer cells that makes me suffer everyday.
Call For Help
For this reason, I come to you for help and support. It's been three in a row for us ever since my mom had her breast cancer disease. We are truly incapacitated financially because nothing was left from our family savings. I appeal to you for help if this is the only way for me to be treated and to recover from my illness.
I have many goals and dreams that I want to achieve and share with others.
I hope that you give me the chance to live and enjoy my life to the full.
I only have one and such is not replaceable.
Please, whoever is out there with a kind heart, share your love and compassion by extending a helping hand to me who is in dire need of financial assistance.
From the bottom of my heart, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for taking your time and effort to read my letter and for helping me.
Thank you so much. Stay safe. God bless you all.
Note: This fundraiser is organized and managed by the friends and family of Joc as he is incapable of managing it himself. Joc is the most loyal friend you can ask for, giving you everything he can even if he himself has nothing left to give. A man of dreams, compassion, and strength who's overcome more challenges the average person won't go through in a lifetime. It aches our hearts that such a tragedy would happen to such loving and compassionate people, both him and his mother. We hope you could join us in helping our dear friend out on his path to recovery. Lord knows he deserves it. Thank you.*For offline donations/problems with donation checkout/plans to support outside of monetary donations, please email [email protected]
