Campaign Story
Hello, I'm writing this on behalf of one of the most warmhearted, generous, and talented people in my life: Jill Earick Ananyi. Uterine cancer has derailed her career as a court interpreter in New York City where, for nearly twenty years, she's dedicated herself to helping non-English speaking residents stand up for themselves in the New York City judicial system. As a woman with a global conscience, Jill has also used her time, expertise, and modest financial resources to assist disadvantaged families in Africa so they would have basic amenities such as electricity, clean water, and educational opportunities, changing the lives of many. Now, in her early 60s, Jill finds herself facing a serious health challenge and in dire financial need while she struggles to survive in one of the most expensive cities in the world -- a place where she must continue to live if she is to continue her work. It is ironic that she interprets for people fighting to receive unemployment benefits, but she cannot get unemployment for herself since she is a freelance worker.
I have known Jill for 48 years and can tell you that she's a fighter -- ambitious, determined, intelligent, and passionate. She's spent her life championing the underprivileged and disadvantaged. She has a gentle and forgiving soul, a brilliant mind, and an all-encompassing sense of justice. But cancer is unfair, and, even with insurance, the expense of her operations and followup radiation has been so enormous that she's had to postpone additional treatments. Fatigue and other side-effects have sapped her strength which makes it almost impossible for her to work until she's well. Yes, cancer is unfair.
Please join me with a contribution of any size to help this wonderful and giving woman get back on her feet once again. The world is a better place with my dear friend, Jill. Her positive energy has been there for all, and now she asks for the goodness of the world to shine a healing light on her darkest moment.
Thank you, Glen Vecchione

Glen, I so appreciate your initiative and kindness in arranging this fund to help our friend. This action matches the young man I remember you were way back. Jill, I am glad to read the treatments are over and hope the side effects fade. I also wish you safety and warmth in the storm. I don't have to give you the encouragement you have often given me to "be strong" because I know you are strong in mind and spirit if not every minute in body.
