Hello, I'm writing this on behalf of one of the most warmhearted, generous, and talented people in my life: Jill Ananyi. Uterine cancer has derailed her career as a court interpreter in New York City where, for nearly twenty years, she's dedicated herself to helping non-English speaking residents stand up for themselves in the New York City judicial system. As a woman with a global conscience, Jill has also used her time, expertise, and modest financial resources to assist disadvantaged families in Africa so they would have basic amenities such as electricity, clean water, and educational opportunities, changing the lives of many. Now, in her early 60s, Jill finds herself in failing health and dire financial need in one of the most expensive cities in the world -- a place where she must continue to live if she is to continue her work.

I have known Jill for 48 years and can tell you that she's a fighter -- ambitious, determined, intelligent, and passionate. She's spent her life championing the underprivileged and disadvantaged. She has a gentle and forgiving soul as well as an expansive and all-encompassing sense of justice. But cancer is unfair and, even with insurance, the expense of her operations and followup radiation has been so enormous that she's had to postpone additional treatments. And dwindling strength makes it almost impossible for her to work until she's well. Cancer is unfair.

Please join me with a contribution of any size to help this wonderful and giving woman get back on her feet once again. The world is a better place with my dear friend, Jill. Her positive energy has been there for all, and now she asks for the goodness of the world to shine a healing light on her darkest moment.

Thank you, Glen Vecchione

Getting Back to Work - Thanks to friends new and old

Update posted by Glen Vecchione at 11:54 pm

This is Jill again. I'm literally back on my feet, feeling pretty strong. Though it takes a while for things to get totally back to normal, the doctors say that everything looks good, and the treatment appears to have been completely successful. Still, when you're freelancer and you get out. . . . .
