Hello everybody! After finishing school and achieving the A-level in Germany, I decided to contribute one year in a Christian charity project. Finally I got to the Call and Vision Secondary School in Mtwara, Tanzania, a school founded by missionaries with the aim to give HOPE to children often coming from a poor and hopeless environment by providing good EDUCATION and teaching the gospel of JESUS CHRIST. We want to give the children a firm foundation for a bright future. I contribute my part in making this idea coming true by supporting in different areas like assisting the teachers, caring for IT- and computer-issues and holding contact with donators supporting the school. Since I am working for a non-profit-organization, my life and work here in Tanzania is financed only with donations throughout the year. The aim this campaign is to raise support for my contribution of giving education, hope and help for building a better future to the children. About myself: I am a convinced Christian from Germany, getting to know Jesus and his gospel was the best think ever happened to me and is surly a reason for going to Tanzania. He really changed my life. It was and still is my desire to provide my time and energy in giving LOVE and HOPE to the poor and hopeless. I started my commitment in Tanzania right after finishing school in July 2014 and I will stay until July 2015. After returning to Germany I will start studying in University. About the situation: The south of Tanzania is one of the poorest in the country and most of the people are still facing a bad infrastructure and not enough workplaces for all. This leads to an average income of approximately $30. Furthermore, the educational system has to deal with different problems. Under-qualified teachers and few teachers in science subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology are facing very large classes, which in some cases have an amount of 100 students. From these two points results an inadequate teaching of the students and consequently a wide spread of under-educated children failing in the examination and having no perspective in life.At the same time the students are facing the problem that for many vocational educations the O-Level is required, which leads together with the points described above to the fact that many young people don’t get access to these vocational educations. About the school: The school was founded in 2011 by CMML (Christian Mission in Many Lands) and the local Church association Kanisa la Biblia (Church of the Bible) to encounter these severe circumstances. To take this poverty and hopelessness at its root and to improve the circumstances in a long term it is very important, to offer the youth chances of education. Now the aim or the vision of Call & Vision Secondary School is to counter these problems with well-trained and motivated teachers, small classes and good equipment and so to offer a high-quality education. Beside this, the school wants to teach the Word of God and so provide perspective and hope for life through the belief in Jesus Christ. All in all, together with the task of a school to improve the social skills of a student, we want to prepare the students with our education for further studies at university and to make them responsible citizens of their country. At the moment there are 16 teachers and 18 other workers (like cooks, facility managers or cleaners) working at the school and teaching 290 students. Your support: The approximate budget, which has to be covered by donations, is around 511€ per month (including the flights, vaccinations, rent, visa and food; even large costs like the flights are distributed over the whole year). Since a part of this money is already covered by donations I calculated and determined a aim of 1000€ for the rest of my stay. It is also possible to support the school and the work directly with or without a specific purpose (like a student-scholarship or building costs), just contact me. I will show my thanks to every sponsor by sending a unique postcard produced by a local artist.
