Jenny’s medical expenses

Jennifer Kombo (Jenny to some, Mom, Granny, Gogo, or Zo to others) recently celebrated her 70th Birthday surrounded by her friends and family; after two years away from Cape Town, she returned to the warm embrace of her closest friends and family, her support system who went above and beyond to ensure she felt special during her short visit back in South Africa.

A week after returning to Florida, her health unexpectedly declined, and she suffered

three transient ischemic attacks. After undergoing an angiogram, they found that three of her arteries were blocked; after that, her doctor recommended surgery to correct her right carotid artery first.

The surgery was successful but took an unfortunate turn the following day when she suffered a temporal hemorrhage and had to undergo emergency surgery. The surgery was successful; unfortunately, she had swelling in her brain after the craniotomy. Her condition had declined due to the swelling and hemorrhaging of the brain. She was in a coma and had paralysis on the left side of her body after the surgery. Her skull was pushing on her brain, which caused seizure activity. The doctors recommended she undergo a craniectomy to alleviate the pressure that the swelling was causing on the brain.

Despite the gravity of her situation, her faith never wavered. She remained optimistic and positive, encouraging us to keep our faith and to pray. Jennifer is the true definition of a fighter, and she continues to show us her fighting spirit daily. She is currently on the road to recovery, only having gained consciousness recently with minimal movement in her body.

The doctors at Delray medical have done everything surgically necessary for Jennifer and are recommending that she be moved to a neurological rehabilitation and nursing facility for extensive therapy.
