“JD Brass Band Pavilnys” – a part of Pavilnys community culture

JD Brass Band Pavilnys was formed in summer of 2017 with the initiative of the bandleader Jurgis Dapšauskas. This idea was supported by the local community and the band was invited to rehearse at the local community house. Soon, with the help and enthusiasm of the band members, a separate room was set up for band rehearsals.

Joining families and generations

The youngest member of the band is 9, the oldest is 78. Experience varies between members as well. Some of the band players had musical careers, some of them got to hold the instrument for the first time during the rehearsal of the band. Several band players joined the band together with their family members – parents with children, grandparents with grandchildren.

Recognition

The band is part of one of the most active communities in Vilnius. We are regularly invited to perform during community events. JD Brass Band Pavilnys was one of a few non-professional orchestras invited to participate in the 100 years anniversary Lithuanian Song Festival march.

New instruments – new performances and good vibes for the audiences

The band is not yet fully formed. We are constantly trying to attract new players, and players need instruments. The main goal of fundraising is to be able to afford at least average quality brass instruments for new and existing members.
