The JBay Recycling Project is a NPO run by volunteers from the community.
At the JBay Recycling Project the aim is to turn trash into treasure. Children bring recyclables to the CMR community centre, the recyclables are weighed and points or "mulas" awarded accordingly. The children then go "shopping" for goods in the shop.
The shop is stocked with items such as stationary, school and other clothes, toiletries, food items and bicycles. The shop is stocked from donations and money earned by selling the recyclables to our recycling partner. The aim of the JBay Recycling Project is to take care of our community and environment, reach accross boundaries, and create a safe way for children to change their circumstances.
In 2018 we want to beautify the Sunshine Service Centre to create a sense of community and a happy place for the children to come to. We share the facilities with a group of elderly ladies from the community called the Sunshine Group. The idea is to create a mural and involve both the children and the Sunshine ladies. The elderly women will talk to the children. They will tell story and give the history of the center. They will talk about what the center represents and the importance of community.
Everyone will write these messages and paint pictures that translate the information onto the walls.
We need funding to enable us to do this mural. The mural will be in collaboration with True Colors https://truecolours.co/. We hope to with your help create this mural and send out a positive message to the whole community
