Hi, my name is Anindya (the girl with sunglasses). I'm trying to raise fund to get my two best friends, Javier and Aryeli (the couple behind me), to leave Ecuador to go to Santiago, Chile. They are originally from Venezuela. We met in Ecuador last year to volunteer for a program called Time to Teach by the Ministry of Education in Ecuador. Unfortunately, the program was poorly managed and as a result, many volunteers are now stranded in Ecuador. Javier and Aryeli are two of them. They have spent all their savings to pay for the working visa in Ecuador and are now left broke. The ministry promised to pay them 817 USD for the January contract, but they never received such money. With that money, Javier and Aryeli plan to go to Santiago, Chile, where Javier's brother lives. It is not an option to go back to Venezuela due to the crisis that is happening. Javier and Aryeli currently live in Balzar, a small town that is two hours away from Guayaquil.
Estimated costs to spend:
1. Total bus trip from Balzar - Guayaquil - Santiago @ 400 USD per person = 800 USD
2. Food and miscellaneous for 1 week @ 100 USD per person = 200 USD
Total = 1,000 USD
I put food budget for 1 week because the trip from Ecuador to Chile takes 4 days by bus, and they will need some cash to settle for a few days. Currently, Javier and Aryeli live with a host family who give them shelter and food in exchange for an English lesson for the next couple months. The ministry stopped sending them stipend since December, so they don't really have that much time to survive.
Let's help these two souls to have a chance to start a better life. If you have any questions related to them, me, the volunteer program, this fundraising, or anything please contact me. I truly appreciate every penny that you spend.
May good karma returns to you. Thank you so much.
