Campaign Story
In August of 2013 I was no longer able to work due to medical complications affecting my lower back and left knee. I was finally approved for a total knee replacement which will take place on May 13th. Although insurance covers a majority of the costs I am still left covering transportation, lodging and other incidental costs as I start the healing process over the next few months. I have been lucky enough to attain the services of my original surgeon although he is now in Sioux Falls, SD which creates a small hurdle but nothing that can't be overcome. Not being able to work has made it quite difficult to get to the multiple appointments I go to on a constant basis. Having to travel several hours for this operation and the may post op visits I will have has made it clear I cannot do this alone. Although I am very hesitant to ask for help it is time that I ask of my friends and family to assist me in this part of my journey to recovering and regaining a little quality of life and hopefully get me healthy enough where I can go back to work in some capacity. I know there are months of physical therapy ahead of me to re-train my leg. Due to a large arthritic growth on my knee that has caused the leg muscles to adjust over the years. Because of this I will have to do several follow-ups in Sioux Falls to ensure everything is healing properly and no further procedures are required. It has been a long road up to this point but I can finally see the light, with your support I know my future looks brighter. I thank you all for visiting, sharing and supporting me as I look to the future and begin this new chapter in my life. Any amount will help and is greatly appreciated.

Update posted by Jason Bruun at 11:21 pmBack in high school I destroyed my knee in a wrestling accident. That was the first time I met Dr. Kalo of Core Orthopedic in Sioux Falls, SD. At the time he was with Dakota Sports Medicine in Fargo, ND and was young, energetic and after one visit had me. . . . .
