"Jasmine is a passionate, artistic and loving young woman, who is marked by her resilience. Despite being only 21 years old, Jasmine has lead a life filled with many personal challenges. Her ability to overcome these challenges is just one of her most notable strengths.
Jasmine is a girl who comes from an underprivileged neighborhood. She comes from a place where it is hard to dream for something larger. She is a girl who was born at rock-bottom, and was born with a will to climb to the very top. She spent the first seventeen years of her life diving into her art, and her studies. She worked diligently to earn herself a scholarship to attend her dream school, and graduated college in three years, at just 20 years old.
Since her graduation last June (June 2017), Jasmine's health has begun to deteriorate.
Jasmine was diagnosed with Lupus (SLE) & Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) when she was thirteen years old. Her daily life was deeply affected and complicated by the illness, but Jasmine always did her best to remain positive about her situation.
In more recent years, complications in Jasmine's personal life have lead to high levels of stress, causing severe "flare ups" in Jasmine's condition.
(To put things in perspective...:
Amount of hospitalizations in the first SEVEN YEARS of having SLE/RA: ONE
Amount of hospitalizations in the LAST YEAR: FOUR)
Due to her increasingly alarming state, Jasmine has been forced to put her dreams on hold. She is currently working part-time in retail, calling out often due to illness, and just barely scraping by.
Jasmine has been made aware that she will be undergoing surgery soon. One side effect of her condition is severe swelling and joint erosion. An oral/maxillofacial surgery has been confirmed by Jasmine's doctors to take place in the near future, although no date has been set at this time. Jasmine has also been made aware that neck and hand surgeries may be necessary in the future.
Presently, Jasmine is undergoing physical therapy to prevent future damage, but often struggles to do the most basic of things. On her worst days, she can barely even lift up a hairbrush, or button a pair of jeans.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to help relieve Jasmine of financial burden as she prepares for, and undergoes her surgery. She will likely be out of work for three to four weeks after the surgery, and could use help with her rent, medical bills, and transportation fees during said time.
Jasmine is known for being the "strong one", a sacrificial leader; the girl who puts others before herself, and downplays her own struggles.. but right now her light is being dimmed by this unfortunate illness. It is our turn to lift her up, and help her back on her feet.
Any support you have to offer to deter this financial and emotional burden is welcome. Please donate, and send Jasmine a motivational and encouraging message to let her know that everything is going to be okay."
