Janes Project Zambia 2015

Hi everyone! My name is Jane Doran and I am very priviledged to have been chosen to be part of the team of Project Zambia. I am a 6th form student at St Dominics Grammar School For Girls and there are twelve pupils and four staff travelling from our school to the city of Lusaka in Zambia in June 2015. Over the past few years I have been able to witness the difference that this project makes within the lives of the people of Zambia, and I have known from when I first heard of Project Zambia that I wanted to be involved and be part of the team making a difference within the world. Whilst in Zambia we will work with local communities and help with ongoing projects such as the building of a school, developing an orphanage and the continued work within Kanyama School for Disabled Children. Each person has to raise  a total of £2000 in order to take part in the project.  This money will cover travel expenses but also contribute a substantial amount to the Zambian community.   I feel that it is not until we see the conditions in which others around the world live that we realise how lucky we are, and I know that whilst I am not changing the world, I will be making a huge difference to the lives of the people in Zambia. Knowing that I am helping to provide those people with a better education and clean water - things that are taken for granted every day, is a feeling that I cannot describe.  Our aim as a team is to help to develop sustainability projects which allow the people of Zambia to be able to help themselves and gain more self-sufficiency. For example, as opposed to just buying bricks, we have recently bought a machine allowing these people to make their own bricks to build more projects and expand orphanages and schools, and even sell these bricks to make their own profit.  Therefore I am appealing to you to help me raise the much needed funds to help sustain these projects and help such a worthy cause. Our motto as part of the team is "You can't change the world, but you can help change our world" and this is something that I strongly agree with, so I thank you for any donations you can make, anything will be grately appreciated.  Thank you,  Jane Doran
