James’ Royal Parks Half Marathon

A Message from Paul Butler:

Dear all ,

As most of you are aware my wife, Melissa was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer 2 ½ years ago. Since that time she has undergone a Double Mastectomy, 6 bouts of Chemotherapy (which was truly horrendous ) and finished off with 12 treatments of Radiotherapy. What she went through was unimaginable and she is not alone, there are thousands of others going through the same life changing operations and procedures. Melissa is doing well now, full of life and a full head of hair! But it has been a hard long road that never ends.

The care and support Melissa received from the Cancer teams throughout her journey and still now has been amazing, these Doctor’s and Nurses and especially her Consultant Mr Ashraf Patel who has been her absolute rock (always there for her day or night ) are so dedicated, they all work tirelessly day and night, weekdays and weekends to help unlucky victims of Cancer not only get through it but to try and eradicate this terrible disease through Ashraf’s Clinical trials. We have supported Ashraf and his team for many years and progress is being made so that hopefully one day this awful disease will be a thing of the past.

In order to help raise money for this brilliant cause we have sponsored James Morehen , my colleague from Rabobank Utrecht to run the ½ Marathon for Melissa through the London Parks on Sunday 14th October , we will be there cheering him on and please feel free to join , there will always be a refreshment nearby ! James is trying to set a new personal best and aims to get in the top 100 of the 16,000 runners ! He’s been training in Kenya for this, seriously, not normal ! (Niet Normalie ! for my Dutch friends ) .
