INTRODUCTION OF EDUCATION IN BHUTAN
Bhutan is a tiny kingdom in the Himalayas with an area of 38,394 km² and a projected population of 763,092. The limited resources of the country are carefully managed for free education and free medical services throughout Bhutan. There are 1928 state-owned schools, institutes, and centers. The limited resource of the country does not suffice to cover all necessary amenities in schools. Hence, the schools make their own plans to raise funds.
JAKAR SCHOOL
Jakar School is one of the oldest public schools in Bhutan with around 751 students and 43 teachers, offering classes from grades 9 to 12.
Jakar School is located in a rural part of Bhutan where the majority of the population's main source of income is agriculture. There is a lot of social pressure for students to drop out of school to assist their families at home since agriculture requires a lot of manpower and their families may see them be more valuable working on the farm rather than attending school.
To keep the students interested and passionate about continuing their education, the School Management and Alumni of Jakar School have gotten together for this project to raise funds to add the following educational facilities to improve the standard of education and provide the students with a more wholesome and practical approach to learning.
1. Mathematics Lab (Estimated cost: 400,000¥)
- This lab will be equipped with a variety of tools to help students learn mathematics in a more practical or immersive approach. The goal is to equip the lab with tools like clinometers, simple measuring tapes, magnetic graphs, smart board, OCR projector, etc. This also includes the cost of basic furniture required in the lab.
2. History Lab/Digital Library (Estimated cost: 3,000,000¥)
- Currently, the school has an IT lab used to teach not only IT subjects but all subjects that require students to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel. This History Lab will contain 35 sets of desktop computers and other equipment required like projectors, screens, and furniture. The goal is to ease the burden on the current IT lab and expand to a curriculum outside the basic textbooks. Also, to encourage students to improve their presentations, public speaking skills, and research skills.
Many generations of school children will benefit from your support. We are reaching out to generous contributors to kindly donate how much ever you can because every penny counts!
Funds are also being raised on other platforms in Bhutan.
For contributions from within Bhutan, we have accounts in BNB(5100129573001) and BoB(202940547).
For contributors from outside Bhutan, kindly donate on this site or contact us below regarding remittance procedures.
